We had a six hour layover in Panama City airport and hopped to get a peek at the canal. This was not to be since the lines were long going through customs and the Info Center said we would be pressed for time. Instead acting on a recommendation by our flight attendant, we took a taxi to the historic center at Casco Antiguo. To get there, we passed a number of other sections, most of which are sprouting tons of high rises. There's also a beautiful green belt along the ocean. The old section is in disrepair with the best area by a cervezeria (which we just had to visit). I'm glad we got to visit but it wasn't long enough to draw any conclusions.
